National Heroes Day History Bowl

Welcome to the 

Franklin's Opus' Heroes Day Contest

What is the Heroes Day Contest?

  • It's FREE!!!!  There are absolutely no charges associated with competing
  • It's a fun, friendly competition between students from schools across the country who love history
  • All components of the contest are online and can be completed by one or more member(s) of each team in any order between January 15th,, 2012 and April 5th, 2012

Who can compete?

  • Teams are composed of 6 students and compete as a group on the History Hub.
  • Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in public or private high schools
  • Each team must have a teacher adviser
  • Schools and Teachers may register more than one team

How Do I Register?

  • Create a team name on The Hub! (go to "Getting Started" and sign up)
  • Don't forget to let your Students know that they can also register individually on The Hub and join their team group
  • We will use The Hub to send out updates and track the standings in the contest

Where is the contest held?

  • The preliminary components of the contest are all online, anytime, in any order between January 15th and April 5th 2012.
  • Complete the readings and quizzes at your own team's pace.  Your team earns points and these points place you in competition with other teams also competing for a spot in the History Bowl
  • The top 5 teams will win $1000.00 towards their travel costs to the History Bowl Contest held at The Hershey Lodge in historic Hershey PA on May 12, 2012

  • In order to qualify for the top 5, your team must complete and take the quizzes on:
  • Three (3) Who's My Hero Videos
  • Twelve (12) Guided Readings
  • Create one (1) video, digital story, or power point presentation about a hero of your choice.  3-5 minutes in length.  Be creative!!
